September is here. We’ve had our Summer fun—sun, sand, and maybe a hangover or two. So, where does that leave us? We’re tired and so is our skin!
The Fall season approaches, which means it’s time to focus on our two favorites: self-care and skin-care. frequency skin has laid out our top three essential oil picks of the month, with accompanying DIY treatments, for you to incorporate into your Fall self-care routine. Grab the Pumpkin Spice Latte, and take notes.
grapeseed oil
This luxe oil is liquid magic, which is why it is used for treating a wide variety of skin concerns. High in antioxidants, this oil is mild, but very nourishing. Containing emollient properties and a gentle toning effect that benefits both mature and acne-prone skin, frequency obviously had to add grapeseed oil in our top picks of the month. Rich in the emollient linoleic acid (omega-6), grapeseed oil leaves the skin feeling sexy and satiny. This oil is easily absorbed, has anti-aging benefits, and conditions tired skin. Need we say more?
grapeseed oil cleanser
Grapeseed oil is a great base oil for a DIY facial cleanser. This all-purpose oil is unlikely to clog pores and can be used directly as a cleanser on its own. Oil-cleansing works well for both dry and oily skin because the grapeseed oil bonds with and removes dirt and other oils that cause skin inflammation.
what you’ll need:
grapeseed oil (4 tbsp)
tea tree oil (8 drops)
Mix these two oils together and then add to a sterilized glass pump container. To oil-cleanse skin, simply apply the oil cleaner to your skin, and rub it around gently, giving your skin a bit of a massage, for about one minute. Be sure to avoid the eye area. Remove oil with a warm damp washcloth and pat dry.
jojoba oil
A constant frequency skin favorite. Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax rather than an oil. It is so similar to human sebum, which makes it a fan-favorite for treating dry and mature skin. Jojoba’s waxy nature adds a protective layer that aids in maintaining the skin’s moisture. This makes it the go-to oil for dry, chapped, weather-damaged, and mature skin. Jojoba oil improves suppleness and elasticity, plus it helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. This oil is readily absorbed and is great for all skin types. Yes, ALL!
jojoba conditioning hair oil
jojoba oil is widely used in skin and hair care. Its nourishing and rejuvenating properties make it the perfect choice to heal all that sun damage from the Summer. This conditioning oil will add luster and shine to help revive dull-looking and dry hair.
what you’ll need:
jojoba oil (2 tbsp)
shea butter (3 tsp)
lavender essential oil (2 drops)
lemon essential oil (1 drop)
Melt the shea butter and jojoba oil together, then remove from heat and add the other two essential oils. Pour into a sterilized glass jar, then let cool. Now you’re ready to go! You can use this all Fall long, this magic mixture lasts up to 3 months!
rosehip seed oil
This luxurious oil comes from the seeds of the rose plant. Rosehip seed oil is ranked in frequency’s top picks because of its nourishing and rejuvenating properties. Suited to dry, mature, and weather damaged skin, rosehip seed oil heals a wide variety of concerns and is renowned for its skin soothing powers. This oil contains essential fatty acids, omegas 3 and 6, which support cell and tissue regeneration. Rosehip seed oil does everything from keeping the skin supple to reducing fine lines, what can’t it do?
detoxifying toning body oil
This detoxifying blend of essential oils promotes a healthy lymphatic system, while toning and firming skin. This toning body oil is the perfect post-Summer treatment because of its stimulating and nourishing properties. Best used as a massage oil, rub into the body with upward circular movements to heal dry and tired skin. Also, this dynamic and toning group of essential oils can help tackle areas of stubborn cellulite.. just a perk!
