How to Give Your Skin a Second Chance: A Step-By-Step Guide to Curing Tired & Dull Skin

How to Give Your Skin a Second Chance: A Step-By-Step Guide to Curing Tired & Dull Skin

Life Catches Up Quickly and We Can't Always Keep Up

That is why we're here to help. We don’t always take care of our skin the way it deserves, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t repair it! Our skin is directly impacted by our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. It is no secret that here at Frequency, we absolutely believe that our current life state affects our skin health. But sometimes life just hits you, and there's not much you can do to stop it.

Is It Too Late to Say Sorry?

Here at Frequency, we'd say that it's never too late to take care of your skin! Below we're going to give you the necessary steps to recover your skin from anything including jet-lag, a hangover or a personal crisis, using the Second Chance Probiotic Face Mask

1. Fill up a glass of water.

Yes, you read that correctly. Often we think that our skin is dry, or dull, but really it is just dehydrated. Fill up those glasses, or Stanley's (whatever works for you), then empty them. Then fill them again.

How can you tell the difference between dry or dehydrated skin? Well, first off, dry skin is a lack of oil and dehydrated skin is a lack of water. Dry skin typically appears red, or flaky. Whereas dehydrated skin is dull, uncomfortable and clearly displays fine lines.

The tried and true test to determining whether you have dry or dehydrated skin is the Pinch Test. Gently pinch your skin on your cheek, if it takes a long time to bounce back, that typically means that you are dehydrated.

2. Cleanse your skin with a facial cleanser.

Choose your favorite cleanser, and get to work. If you have any residue from makeup then we recommend gently removing it with micellar water, cold cream cleansers, or balms.

If you have dry or sensitive skin, we suggest that you use a hydrating cleanser. If you are prone to breakouts or have oily skin, then we recommend that you find an exfoliating cleanser. This can include any cleanser with BHAs or AHAs.

Basically, choose one that works and start there!

3. Apply the Second Chance mask.

The Second Chance Probiotic Face Mask has "Second Chance" in the title for a reason. This fan-favorite helps to quickly and effectively repair tired, dull and neglected skin. This ultra-hydrating mask features Kaolin and Smectite Clay, carrot proteins, and probiotics. It is mineral-rich, and feels like a dream on your skin.

After cleansing your face, apply the mask and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it is dry. This mask is a fan-favorite because it works wonders for tired skin and smells like cookies n' cream. What better way to show yourself some much-deserved TLC?

4. Stack on the facial serums.

After the face mask is removed from the skin, it's time to apply serums. Depending on your skin type or skin concerns, we would have different recommendations for you. But, if you have dry or sensitive skin we recommend pairing this mask with hydrating serums like the Original Sin Vitamin C Oil, or our Golden Jojoba Oil. These two superstar serums are great for skin that needs extra hydration, to soften the skin and smooth the complexion.

If you have oily skin, we suggest our Drink Up Hyaluronic Acid. This serum' s main ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid, which will help your skin to feel and look supple, without fearing a breakout. This ingredient is lightweight, and is a humectant with draws in water, not oil. So it will help to balance moisture levels without causing a breakout.

5. Last but not least, apply face cream.

To finish your "Second Chance" skincare routine, apply your favorite moisturizer. We of course suggest our Glass Skin Facial Cream, because it is lightweight and effective.

This cream includes Vitamin B5, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C, reduce the appearance of fine lines and rejuvenate the skin. What better way to seal in your serums?

Your Skin is Now Saved!

There you have it, second chances for your skin do exist! Remember that we all slack off on our routines from time-to-time, whether that be skincare, fitness or anything wellness related. But the only way out is through, so you just have to jump back into it to feel your best again.
